Patch Notes

This page is a highlight reel, not the News tab. Path of the Idle Cultivator prints the full changelog in-game (from v0.3.5 onward the developer said so on itch). What follows is the set of patches that actually changed how you sit, fight, and rebirth — from v0.5 back through v0.2. If a screenshot in a 2025 guide shows roaming bosses or weapons-only skills, you are looking at a dead ruleset.

Steam Early Access opened with v0.5 on 5 Sep 2026. itch still mirrors that line. For the store FAQ (one year, always F2P, 50% content), use Steam Early Access. For how to play the current loop, use How to Play and Getting Started.

v0.5 (Sep 2026) — Steam Early Access

Headlines from the itch post:

  • Steam Early Access is the current front door (app 5007580, F2P).
  • Finishes Ascension 1.
  • Combat overhaul.
  • Cave / dungeon overhaul starts (a start, not a finish).

If your last session was v0.4.2, assume combat muscle memory is wrong. The old Combat tab was already something the developer wanted to push toward world-map farming; v0.5 is the first large swing, not a tooltip pass. Cave and dungeon work is listed as begun, so expect more passes rather than a frozen layout.

Ascension 1 being “finished” here matches the Steam FAQ’s promise that EA includes Pre-Ascension plus the first Ascension. It does not finish Ascension 2.

v0.4.2 (29 Aug 2026) — fate, Hell, Heaven

  • Fate system overhaul.
  • Hell and Heaven start — described as the start of finishing Ascension 2.
  • Playable, not finished.

Read Hell / Heaven as an open wing: you can walk in, you should not plan a complete second campaign around it. Fate changes also mean old “which Fate card is mandatory” advice from mid-0.4 is suspect. Confirm in the Fate Shop / Fate Cards panels, not in a June screenshot.

v0.4.1 (15 Aug 2026) — Ascension 1 overhaul

  • Major Ascension 1 overhaul; the developer said this is where they wanted A1 to sit.
  • About 60–80% of Ascension 1 complete at that time, judged on Divine Pagoda.
  • Full changelog pointed at News plus a Patreon post.
  • Steam store page was up for wishlists (EA itself came later with v0.5).

A follow-up note on itch sketched the next origin fusion: Heaven and Hell embodiment with nameless/named deity work, aimed at conquering heaven and earth before other galaxies. That is design talk, not a finished origin on this list.

v0.4 (18 Jul 2026)

itch’s v0.4 post is short on purpose: longer notes moved to Patreon. If you need the v0.4 essay, that is where it lives. The public takeaway is the workflow change — Discord and Patreon carry depth, News carries bullets, this wiki carries the spine.

v0.3.5 — origins, News tab, treasures

  • Spear origin rework, sword origin tweaks, plus palm, axe (berserker), staff, fan, and beast origin work in the same window.
  • In-game News tab becomes the in-depth changelog.
  • Fate shop added; battle manuals persist through rebirth.
  • Cultivation treasures cap 20 → 100; body, war, and neigong treasures added.
  • Elemental path refining; after the fan questline, dantian elements only change on rebirth.
  • Soul shop split from soul stats; breakthrough power multiplies soul-power gain; more cultivation types feed SP.

If a fan-origin player cannot fuse elemental nodes, the developer’s later comment still applies: finish the fan questline so you can control the dantian. That is a progression gate, not a missing hotkey.

v0.3.4 — dao cards, skins, Patreon

  • Dao cards, cultivator skins, Discord profile, Patreon integration.
  • Sword origin rework; innate elemental also generates elemental damage.
  • Body and weapon exp removed from combat; training becomes lifespan-time based (minimum one year per hit).
  • Bloodlines cap at 30 parts; extra levels add +25% to all bloodlines.
  • Elemental nodes can grow without a max tier.
  • Guide pointers for new mechanics.

This is the patch that makes “I will just combat-level my sword forever” a bad plan. Training time is lifespan. Combat is for loot and pressure, not a hidden exp bar.

v0.3.2 — skills, tower, major realms, Chaos

A systems bomb:

  • Palm and fist skill-tree changes; elemental skill tree added.
  • Weapon skill → Skills (not weapons-only).
  • Cultivation tower changes; weapon ascension rework; reforge for weapon and armor enchantments; divine forge.
  • Major realms added.
  • Titan form, deity mind, ancient clarity cultivations.
  • Chaos Realm and chaos points.
  • Shared forge/pill inventory between sect and player.

Realm List exists because this patch made “what is a realm” a worse question. Chaos and the extra mind/body ladders sit beside Qi. Tower bugs after this patch were often old-save migration issues; News and Discord were the fix path, not a wiki command.

v0.2.5 — bloodline and Divine Beasts

  • Bloodline rework; strength bloodline removed; weapon-skill buffs on bloodlines.
  • Roaming bosses removed; Divine Beasts are the bosses.
  • Auto-hunt and auto-friend with beasts; befriending is harder, but parts and eggs come over time.
  • Beasts can absorb one another.
  • Renown farming; more spirit stones from current renown.
  • At Grand Dao, spirit-stone cultivation buffs keep growing.
  • Armors roll random buffs from rarity and realm, including weapon-skill effects.

Any guide that says “farm the roaming boss on this tile” is pre-0.2.5. Hunt and befriend on the map instead. See How to Play for the current loop.

v0.2.2 — hotkeys, alchemy, meridians

  • Hotkeys 1–8 for speed (the later HUD shows 1–9, 2x–10x).
  • Alchemy.
  • 12 meridians.
  • Max impurity 60%; demonic at 100%.
  • Technical manuals.
  • Worldmap bosses.

This is the patch that turned the client into a keyboard-aware idle game and made dantian hygiene a real fail state. Impurity and demonic conversion still scare first lives; they are not flavour text. Hotkeys covers the current 1–9 strip.

How to use this recap

  1. If you are new, ignore everything before v0.5 except as a “this used to work” warning.
  2. If a tab vanished, search this page for the system name (roaming bosses, weapons-only skills, combat exp).
  3. If an origin feels gutted, look at v0.3.5 and v0.4.1 before you reroll.
  4. If Hell or Heaven looks thin, that is v0.4.2 telling the truth: playable, unfinished.
  5. Then open News in the header for the bullets this page refused to paste.

We will add a new section when a numbered build changes the spine again — another Ascension finish, another combat pass, or a Hell/Heaven close. Until then, do not treat a 0.3 screenshot of the Combat tab as a strategy guide. The climb is the same sit-and-die loop; the buttons around it are not.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What did v0.5 change?

Steam Early Access, finished Ascension 1, combat overhaul, and the start of a cave/dungeon overhaul. Details belong in News; this page is the headline.

Is Ascension 2 done?

No. v0.4.2 started Hell and Heaven as a playable but unfinished slice of finishing Ascension 2. v0.5 finished Ascension 1, not A2.

Where is the full changelog?

In-game News tab, from v0.3.5 onward. itch and Patreon carry the essays. This page is a highlight reel on purpose.

Why can’t I find roaming bosses?

v0.2.5 removed them. Divine Beasts replaced that hunt, with auto-hunt and auto-friend on the map.

When did numbered speed keys arrive?

v0.2.2 added keys 1–8. The current HUD labels 1–9 (2x through 10x). See Hotkeys.

Do I need to start a new save after v0.5?

The developer did not call v0.5 a wipe. Export from Settings before you move platforms. If a system looks empty, check News and Discord before you delete the life.
