Path of the Idle Cultivator Fist, Palm, and Spear Origins
Fist intent unlocks cultivate, weight stats for body lives, and a spear kit rewritten in v0.3.5.
Fist, Palm, and Spear are the body-weapon trio in Path of the Idle Cultivator. They are origins with dedicated skill trees, not costumes you wear over Common. Steam Early Access opened on 5 Sep 2026 (app 5007580, free to play). Single-player, English. Optional Patreon Fate bonuses do not gate these lives.
Letters live on the origins tier list: Palm is an honest B, Spear a rising A after the v0.3.5 rework, Fist a C for first-life speed and a real late body path. This page is the walk, not the letter. Compare blades on the weapons tier list. If you wanted the combat default, that is Sword Cultivator.
Fist: Qi tax, then a body thesis
Fist historically cannot gather Qi the same way. If you pick Fist on a first sitting and mash Cultivate, the bar will feel broken. It is not a missing hotkey. Fist intent across origins is what unlocks that cultivation. Train the fist tree even on Common or Sword so intent exists when you later walk the Fist origin. Rebirth value is huge because intent is account-shaped.
Weight stats matter for body cultivators. They are not flavour bulk. Body refining, eating, and the fist tree feed a heavier kit than a pure Qi meditator. Combat is blunt and late. Idle Qi is the tax. Once intent is online, Fist is a body path, not a joke.
Practical Fist rules:
- Do not spend hour one trying to “fix” Cultivate. Either start Common, or accept the tax and train intent.
- Put a trainer (flat exp) and a partner (multiplier) on Fist if the sect can spare them.
- Filter the bloodline canvas to Fist. Strengthen Bloodline adds nodes; it does not invent intent.
- Extra bosses still pay +20% this-life cultivation stats after the first — Breakthroughs. A slow Qi bar is not a reason to Finish early if you can still win the next fight.
The fist skill tree was retuned in v0.3.2. Treat current nodes as current. Old “just punch the Combat tab for exp” advice died when body and weapon exp left combat in v0.3.4; training is lifespan-time based.
Palm: endurance tree, endurance origin
Palm has a dedicated skill tree and a dedicated origin, both touched in the 0.3.x line and reworked in v0.3.5. Combat is slower than sword, more stubborn than fan: still standing when flashier kits have already spent their burst. First-life speed is acceptable. Idle is respectable. Bloodline filters will take palm nodes if you train them.
Palm is not a trap and not a protagonist. Play it if you like endurance flavour and a wall of palms in the fifty-turn duel. Do not play it because you thought it was Fist without the Qi tax — Fist still owns that tax. Do not play it because you wanted Sword’s cut spirit. Aura collapsed into cut spirit on sword; palm did not inherit that sentence.
Train Palm. Filter Palm. Swallow pills that keep you in the fight on turn 45, not only on turn 10. Workshops: Alchemy and Forge. Soul weapons persist; a palm you never ascended is furniture.
Spear: current kit, not a leftover poke
Spear is the comeback tree. The spear origin was reworked in v0.3.5; the weapon tree is no longer a leftover poke. Combat is reach and commitment. First-life speed is decent. Volatility is high in the honest sense: Early Access already rewrote spear once. Enjoy the current kit. Do not tattoo an old spear screenshot onto a bloodline canvas overnight.
Same contract as the other two: origin quests are the permission slip, Weapon Training is the diet, the bloodline filter is Spear. A spear origin with an untrained spear tree is a questline you have not started. A spear origin holding a trophy zither is a tribulation you will lose.
If a patch note mentions spear again, believe the News tab over this paragraph. v0.5 finishes Ascension 1 and overhauls combat; origin kits can still move. Confirm on patch notes.
Weight, training, and the dantian
Body lives still have a dantian. Size, purity, impurity (max 60%), demonic %, attunement, twelve meridians. Fist’s Qi tax does not skip hygiene. Palm endurance does not skip meridians. Spear reach does not skip Fan fusion if you are drowning in 6% nodes — Fan’s questline after dantian control is still the fuse, and after that, elements change on rebirth.
Weight stats sit beside that core. Eating, body refining, and body treasures from the map feed the heavier kit. Demonic conversion is still 100% demonic on the dantian, not a fist-only stain. Heaven Chosen is still a different door with a heaven battle — do not copy that origin’s Breakthrough panic onto Fist.
Divine Beasts remain a parts income for any of these lives. Hunt or friend on the map; absorb toward the filter you train. A Thunder Tiger will not replace spear proficiency.
How to pick among the three
- First life, still learning the UI: Common, or Sword if you already want combat. Fist as a blind starter is a bad sit.
- Want endurance without the Qi tax: Palm.
- Want the current rework spotlight: Spear.
- Want a late body thesis and you already have fist intent from another life: Fist.
- Want cut spirit and sword bloodlines: leave this page and open Sword Cultivator.
Then finish the origin quests. Sword without proficiency is a tourist. Fist without intent is a tourist. Palm without the tree is a tourist. Spear on a pre-0.3.5 memory is a tourist. The origins hub is the roster; this page is the body contract.
Walk one weapon. Train it while it is in your hand. Filter the canvas to match. Let weight stack if you are a body cultivator, and let fist intent exist on the account before you ask Cultivate to behave. That is the whole trio: three trees, one rule against mashing the wrong button, and a spear kit you should read in this build — not in last season’s poke.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Why can’t Fist gather Qi?
Fist historically cannot gather Qi the same way. Fist intent across origins unlocks cultivate. Train the fist tree even on other lives before you commit to Fist origin.
What are weight stats?
Body-cultivator stats fed by the fist path, body refining, and eating. They matter on Fist more than on a pure Qi meditator. Workshops: Alchemy and Forge.
Did Spear get rewritten?
Yes. The spear origin was reworked in v0.3.5. Treat the current kit as current and confirm later changes on patch notes.
Is Palm just weak Sword?
No. Palm is an endurance tree and origin, also touched in v0.3.5. Rank it on the origins tier list and the weapons tier list.
Should I take Fist, Palm, or Spear first?
Usually none of them as a blind first life. Common or Sword Cultivator teach the UI. Palm is the kindest of the three starters; Fist wants intent already online.
Do these origins skip breakthrough extra bosses?
No. Extra bosses still pay +20% this-life cultivation stats after the first. See Breakthroughs. Fist’s Qi tax is not a Finish excuse.
