Path of the Idle Cultivator Convert at 100% Demonic
Monster essence quests, 60% impurity, and the gear that was taken away.
Demonic is a conversion, not a checkbox in the soul shop. In Path of the Idle Cultivator you become a demonic cultivator when the dantian hits 100% demonic. The origin was removed from the soul shop so you cannot buy the hat and skip the stain. Steam Early Access opened 5 Sep 2026 (app 5007580, free to play). Single-player, English, Wuxia Dev / Wuxia Games.
The origins tier list parks committed Demonic in S and dabbling Demonic nowhere. If you stop at a fashionable 40% stain, you have a dirty Common life. If you finish monster-essence quests and live with the impurity cap, you have the path this page describes.
100% demonic
The dantian tracks purity, impurity, and demonic (plus elemental attunement). Demonic percentage is the conversion meter. At 100% you are on the origin. That is the rule from v0.2.2 and it has not been politely walked back. Plan the life around feeding that meter, not around a shop listing that no longer exists.
Impurity is a related, separate pain. Max impurity was raised from 30% to 60% of the dantian. That is more room to be filthy, not a free pass to ignore purity math. Pills can still fight you; v0.2.4 had to fix purity issues on pills. Read the dantian panel before you swallow a stack because a tooltip said “more power.”
Monster essence quests
Demonic origin quests are monster-essence work. The old “refine monster essence” action became “cultivate monster essence.” You will farm essence from combat and the map, then spend it on the quest spine instead of treating it as vendor junk. If the quest log is still talking about essence and you sold the pile, that is a self-inflicted wall.
Bosses live on the world map and grow stronger over time. They drop technical manuals, body treasures, and flying-treasure materials. Demonic lives want the essence stream more than a pretty sword drop, but you still need gear. Just not the gear that was deleted.
What was removed
Two removals define the kit:
-
Demonic origin in the soul shop — gone. Conversion at 100% is the door. Infinity achievements still track Demonic Cultivator as its own origin line, which is how you know the path is first-class, not a hidden flag.
-
Demonic equipment on demon cultivators — removed. Do not hoard a “demonic” closet expecting it to scale after conversion. Build around what a demon can actually wear, plus body treasures, manuals, and the bloodline canvas.
Righteous origin is also gone, so there is no polite opposite hat waiting in the same menu. Sect alignment can still lean demonic; that is sect politics, not your personal origin.
Combat, idle, and rebirth
Combat: greedy. Essence wants fights. The combat tab is the early stair; the map is the real farm. Idle: essence ticks and cultivate-monster-essence, not a pure meditation fantasy. Rebirth: high if conversion is a habit you can repeat. Inventory essences reset on rebirth unless stored, so vault what the next stain needs.
Fist and Demonic are different kinds of slow. Fist cannot gather Qi the same way until intent is online. Demonic can gather; it just wants a stained dantian and an essence budget. Do not pick Demonic because Fist looked hard. Pick it because you want the 100% door.
Dantian hygiene for a demon
Watch three bars: size, purity, demonic. Impurity up to 60% is allowed; overflowing your own plan is not. Elemental nodes still exist on a demonic life — Fan’s fusion unlock is account-shaped, not righteous-only. If you need to fuse 6% nodes into something less embarrassing, that is still a Fan questline problem, described on the origins hub.
Absorbed dantians have already needed bug fixes (v0.3.5). If numbers look possessed in a bad way, export a save from Settings (gear on the speed bar), ask on Discord, and do not smash the dantian tab until a patch note says the ghost is gone.
When not to walk this life
Skip Demonic on a first sitting if you still do not know where Cultivate is. Skip it if you refuse map combat. Skip it if you wanted the old soul-shop purchase. Skip it if your plan was “equip all the demonic gear.” Take it when you are ready to stain the core on purpose, fund essence quests, and live at the impurity cap without pretending you are still a Common meditator.
Compare letters on the origins tier list. Compare blades on the weapons tier list — demons still swing something, they just do not get the deleted closet. Sword remains a valid tree on a stained life if you train it; the origin quests will still want essence first.
Demonic is a contract written in monster blood. Sign at 100%, keep the essence moving, and stop looking for the shop button that was taken away. That is the path. Everything else is a stain you did not finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I become a demonic cultivator?
Reach 100% demonic on the dantian. The origin is not sold in the soul shop anymore.
What is the impurity cap?
60% of the dantian (raised from 30%). It is a ceiling, not a goal you ignore purity for.
What happened to demonic equipment?
Removed for demon cultivators. Do not plan a post-conversion wardrobe around those pieces.
Where do origin quests point?
Monster essence. Cultivate essence (it used to be called refine), and do not vendor the pile the log still wants.
Is Demonic S-tier for everyone?
Only if you commit. Dabbling is a dirty Common life. See the origins tier list for the four-criteria ranking.
Does Fate on Patreon unlock Demonic faster?
No. Fate bonuses are optional support and do not gate core origin content.
