Heaven Chosen is the origin that looks like a protagonist and behaves like a locked door. Path of the Idle Cultivator gives this life unique trials, dantian-related quests, and a Breakthrough tab that may refuse to open until you finish the battle for heaven. The origins tier list scores it A: high ceiling, rude onboarding. That is not a meme. It is the patch history plus the itch.io comment thread. If your Breakthrough tab is dead, read this page before you file a bug.

Unique trials

Heaven Chosen was one of the first named origins in the v0.2 origins system. Infinity achievements track it separately (Average Cultivator, Heaven Chosen, Demonic Cultivator). v0.2.2 added heaven chosen quests that are dantian-related. An earlier build had a heaven chosen tribulation that later got removed (v0.2.4). The current gate is not “wait out a lightning timer.” It is content you have to fight.

Treat the origin quests as a spine, the same way Sword and Demonic do. They exist to force dantian literacy: size, purity, impurity, attunement, the twelve main meridians. If you skip them, the later heaven fight will feel like a wall that spawned from nowhere. It spawned from the quest you ignored.

Battle for heaven and the Breakthrough tab

A player on Heavenly Physique, Earth Profound 9, could not open Breakthrough, reinstalled, hit the same wall, then wrote the correction: they needed to battle for heaven first. The developer followed up about heaven chosen breakthrough messaging and asked where a “required at chaos realms” note was showing while the player was still in Earth. That exchange is the onboarding in a nutshell: the UI under-explains the gate, the gate is real, and chaos-realm text can appear earlier than your realm name suggests.

If the Breakthrough tab does not open:

1. Confirm you are actually Heaven Chosen (or on Heavenly Physique in that origin line).
2. Look for the battle for heaven — not a second Cultivate button.
3. Do not assume Earth Profound 9 is “too early for a tab to exist.” On this origin the tab is content-gated.
4. Export a save from Settings (gear on the speed bar) before you smash the UI. If it is still dead after the heaven fight, then it is a bug and Discord is the right room.

Hell and heaven content is still being finished in Early Access (v0.4.2 called hell and heaven the start of the finish of Ascension 2, playable but not done). Volatility is high. Do not build a mental model from a three-month-old screenshot of the Breakthrough panel.

Heavenly Physique, from players

Heavenly Physique is the body name players mention when they are on this path. It is not a separate origin; it is how the life presents while you climb. The same player who thought Breakthrough was broken was on Heavenly Physique at Earth Profound 9. The lesson is social, not numeric: if a physique name makes you feel like the tutorial is over, check the origin quests anyway. Heaven Chosen likes to look finished while a gate is still shut.

Other physiques and origins can open Breakthrough without a heaven battle. That is why copying a Common player’s advice fails here. Copy the origin’s rules, not the realm number.

Combat versus idle

Combat is the point. Unique trials and the heaven battle are fights. Idle still exists — you sit, you gather, you let speed keys run — but this origin punishes people who treat Path as a pure cookie ticker. Fist is the origin that historically cannot gather Qi the same way. Heaven Chosen can gather; it just will not let you skip the duel that unlocks the next realm button.

Rebirth value is high if you learned the gate. The second Heaven Chosen life should not require a forum thread. First-life speed is awkward, which is why this is a poor blind starter compared with Common or Sword Cultivator.

Adjacent keys

Hell Embodiment is a different origin. Infernal Treasure Fragments for ascended trial talismans come from hell and want divine pagoda 10 plus Hell Embodiment. Do not expect Heaven Chosen to farm hell’s fragments for you. Fan still owns node fusion. Demonic still owns 100% stain. Heaven Chosen owns trials and the heaven battle.

Laws and later heavens content (divine elements, Heaven Chosen-specific mantras) have been discussed by the developer as future depth. Treat those as roadmap talk until they are in the News tab. This page ranks what you can trip over today.

How to walk the life without rage-reinstalling

Start only after one Common or Sword life so you know where Settings, Cultivate, and tribulations are. The origins hub is the roster; this page is the door. Run the dantian quests. When the Breakthrough tab stares blankly, battle for heaven. When the UI mentions chaos realms at Earth, believe the gate, not the realm title. Keep a save export. Then climb.

Heaven Chosen is a protagonist origin with a bouncer. Pay the bouncer. The tab opens after the fight, not after you download the game a second time.
