Path of the Idle Cultivator Realm List

Named stages, extra ladders, Ascension 1 vs 2, and Galaxy Map world tiers.

Realm List

Path of the Idle Cultivator sells the climb in two sentences at once. Steam copy talks about dozens of realms from Body Tempering to Immortal Ancestor. itch copy talks about fifty realms across seven tiers, Mortal to Dao. Both are true enough for a store page, and both are incomplete as a wiki table. This page lists names we can actually see in the HUD, in patch notes, and in developer comments — then it tells you where the list is still soft.

Steam Early Access opened on 5 Sep 2026. v0.5 finished Ascension 1 and overhauled combat. Names, stage counts, and extra ladders still move. If a string on your save is not here, it is probably a later rename, an origin overlay, or a new major realm, not a corrupted file. Confirm the current text in-game, then read Breakthroughs for how a stage actually opens.

How to read this list

  • Personal realm is the name on your portrait (for example Blazing Body Tempering, Earth Profound, Grand Dao).
  • Stage number is the layer inside that realm (Earth Profound 9 is a stage, not a different realm).
  • Major extra ladders sit beside Qi: body, mind, clarity, Chaos Realm, Divine Pagoda, and similar tracks added in 0.3.x.
  • Galaxy Map world tiers are map nodes, not your cultivation title.
  • Ascension is a separate ceiling after the Pre-Ascension climb.

Do not treat this as a spoiler-complete 50-row dump. Early Access still inserts, splits, and retitles stages.

Mortal start

The HUD labels the first block Dantian — Mortal. A common first-life string is Blazing Body Tempering (1). The web client has also shown Qi Condensation on a fresh mortal. Steam’s flavour line starts the whole ladder at Body Tempering. Those are the same neighbourhood: you are still a mortal, you are still thickening a body so it can hold Qi, and the tribulation at the end of the realm is still a fight.

Mortal is where How to Play matters more than the later names. Sit, spend spirit stones on manuals, open meridians, and do not skip the in-game Guide. Impurity, demonic conversion, and origin quirks all start here; they do not wait for Immortal.

Profound family

Once you leave the mortal block, the UI uses Profound as a family, not a single realm:

  • Earth Profound — players report Earth Profound 9 as a real stage, including lives that still cannot open Breakthrough until a Heaven fight is done.
  • Sky Profound — Legends opponents show Sky Profound Stage 1 (for example Zhang Wei, the Iron Fist).
  • Sovereign Profound — listed next to Sky Profound on the Legends panel.

Older player comments also mention Sky Profound as a soul-strength gate. Treat that as flavour plus a reminder: Profound is several named walls, not one bar that fills from 1 to 9 and stops.

If Breakthrough will not open at Earth Profound, check origin rules before you assume a bug. Heaven Chosen and related paths can demand a Heaven battle first. That lock is explained on Breakthroughs, not by skipping to Chaos.

Grand Dao, Immortal, and named peaks

Named examples that show up in the HUD or in patch notes:

  • Grand Dao — v0.2.5 made spirit-stone cultivation buffs keep scaling once you are here, instead of flattening.
  • Heaven Immortal — a late named realm on the same ladder as the mortal start.
  • Celestial Being — a player-facing title in mid-development comments; confirm the current spelling in your build.
  • Immortal Ancestor — the Steam blurb’s far-end example for the Pre-Ascension fantasy, not a guarantee that your save currently prints those two words.

The Legends panel groups extra catalogues as Heaven, Immortal, Divine, Celestial, Dao, and Galaxy. Those are opponent / legend buckets, useful as a hint that the writers think in those tiers, not a 1:1 map of your personal realm bar.

Chaos Realm and other major ladders

v0.3.2 added major realms plus several extra cultivations that sit beside the main Qi bar:

  • Chaos Realm and chaos points
  • Titan form training
  • Deity mind cultivation
  • Ancient clarity cultivation
  • Divine Forge as a related late workshop

Chaos Realm also appears as its own sidebar destination next to Galaxy Map, Divine Pagoda, Clan, and Deities. A player who is “only at Earth Profound” can still see Chaos requirements on a panel that is previewing a later gate. That preview is not a demand that you are already in Chaos. Read the tooltip; do not spend a life trying to satisfy a greyed-out Chaos line from a mortal body.

v0.3.2 also made Skills a broader tree (not weapons-only) and added an elemental skill tree. Those are combat / training tracks. They are not extra cultivation realms, even when they unlock at a named stage.

Seven tiers, Mortal to Dao

itch’s design line is the cleanest overview we have: walk about fifty realms across seven tiers, from Mortal to Dao. The seven-tier claim is a structure, not a public roster. This wiki will not invent the missing forty names to look complete.

What we can say without guessing:

  • Mortal (Body Tempering / Qi Condensation neighbourhood) is the floor.
  • Profound names occupy the long middle.
  • Grand Dao and Immortal titles occupy the late Pre-Ascension stretch.
  • Dao is the itch end of that seven-tier claim.
  • Extra ladders (Chaos, Pagoda, mind, clarity, titan) attach as you unlock them, then persist in some form across rebirths depending on the system.

When a patch “adds new major realms,” it is usually inserting named walls into this spine, not throwing the seven-tier claim away.

Ascension 1 versus Ascension 2

Pre-Ascension is the long Mortal-to-Dao (and Immortal Ancestor) climb: cultivation, combat, crafting, sect, world map.

Ascension 1 is the first ceiling after that. Steam Early Access includes the complete Pre-Ascension journey plus this first Ascension. v0.4.1 was the major Ascension 1 overhaul; the developer called it about 60–80% complete based on Divine Pagoda at that time. v0.5 finished Ascension 1. Developer comments elsewhere frame first Ascension as planetary in scale.

Ascension 2 is not finished. v0.4.2 started Hell and Heaven as “the start of the finish of Ascension 2”: playable, unfinished. Later notes talk about fusing Heaven and Hell embodiment with nameless/named deity work, then moving toward other galaxies. Treat Hell, Heaven, and related origins as an open construction site, not a second completed game.

Steam’s Early Access FAQ still describes the current slice as roughly 50% of planned content, with at least two more Ascensions planned for a full version. Galaxy and map conquest, new realms, and new powerscaling are on that list. See Steam Early Access for the store wording.

Galaxy Map world tiers

The Galaxy Map is a node graph of World N — Tier T. A frontier list on the same screen runs from low worlds (World 3, Tier 1) up through very high world numbers (for example World 281, Tier 50). Resource ticks (spirit herbs, meat, ore, spirit stones, elements, beast cores) sit on that map, not on the Cultivate button.

World tier is a map rating. It is not your personal realm. You can be Blazing Body Tempering on a portrait and still see high-tier worlds greyed out, or you can be deep into Ascension systems and still farm a mid-tier node because that is where a resource lives.

Travel, Overseers, and Automation on that HUD are map tools. They do not replace a breakthrough. When a world is too hard, the problem is power and preparation, which belongs on How to Play and Breakthroughs, not on renaming your realm.

Using the list in a real life

  1. Write down the exact string on your portrait, including the stage number.
  2. Check whether Breakthrough is a missing tab or an origin gate.
  3. Do not spend months chasing a Chaos or Pagoda requirement that is only a preview.
  4. When you walk the Galaxy Map, track world tier separately from realm name.
  5. After a patch, skim Patch Notes before you assume a rename is a bug.

This page will grow as v0.5+ settles the remaining Ascension 1 edges and as Hell / Heaven gets a finished name list. Until then, the honest tool is a short, dated notebook — not a fake encyclopedia of fifty identical-sounding stages.

If you only remember one split, remember this: realm is who you are this life, world tier is where you are standing on the map, and Ascension is whether the heavens have already been a ceiling you broke. Mixing those three is how people think the game is stuck when it is only waiting on a tribulation they have not fought.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How many cultivation realms are there?

About fifty across seven tiers, Mortal to Dao, plus extra ladders. Steam also describes the climb from Body Tempering to Immortal Ancestor. Early Access still adds and renames stages.

What is Blazing Body Tempering?

A mortal-start realm shown on the HUD as Dantian — Mortal. It sits in the Body Tempering neighbourhood, not at Immortal or Chaos.

Is Earth Profound the same as Sky Profound?

No. They are named Profound realms. Earth Profound 9 is a stage inside Earth Profound. Sky Profound and Sovereign Profound appear as later / adjacent names.

Does Chaos Realm mean I skipped ahead?

Not by itself. Chaos Realm is a major ladder added in v0.3.2. Panels can preview Chaos requirements while you are still Profound. Read the lock text.

What is the difference between Ascension 1 and Ascension 2?

v0.5 finished Ascension 1 (planetary-scale content, Divine Pagoda as a marker). v0.4.2 started Hell and Heaven as a playable but unfinished slice of Ascension 2.

Are Galaxy Map tiers my cultivation realm?

No. World N — Tier T is a map node rating. Your portrait realm is separate. See How to Play for the loop that actually raises the portrait name.
