Path of the Idle Cultivator Alchemy, Forging, and Soul Weapons
Real refinement — purity, furnace, ingredients — plus a weapon grind that outlives every rebirth.
Alchemy and forging in Path of the Idle Cultivator are workshops, not one-click bags. You pick ingredients, run a furnace, watch purity, and share piles with the sect. Soul weapons you finish persist across lives. Steam Early Access opened on 5 Sep 2026; v0.5 does not turn the cauldron into a gacha button. If you wanted idle-complete crafts, this is the wrong tab — and that is the point.
Open these shops when Combat stones and world map herbs actually exist. Hour-one Cultivate still comes first (Getting Started). Rebirth still wipes loose inventory (Rebirth & Legacy), so a finished soul weapon is worth more than a backpack of almost-pills.
Alchemy is refinement
Pills take ingredients, a furnace, and a purity result. Failed or dirty crafts are part of the loop. Impurity on the dantian caps at 60% (it used to sit at 30% in older builds); alchemy is one of the ways you interact with cleanliness versus power, not a separate minigame with no Qi consequences.
Practical habits:
- Read the recipe before you batch. Shared storage makes it easy to spend the last herb a pavilion needed.
- Inventory UIs can paginate. If a crafted Ember Vigor (or anything else) “vanished,” scroll the second page before you file a bug.
- Eating, cooking, Divine Cooking, and Divine Alchemy are related mouths on the same pipeline. World-boss treasures you eat are not furnace input; do not dump them into the wrong shop.
- Talismans sit beside alchemy. High Infernal Treasure Fragments for ascended trial talismans come from Hell, with Divine Pagoda 10 and Hell Embodiment origin — not from a starter herb node.
Purity issues have been patched more than once. If a pill looks legally cursed, check patch notes and the in-game Info Guide before you reincarnate in protest.
Forge, soul weapons, and shared inventory
Forge and pill share inventory with the sect and with your personal bag. Disciples gathering on the map are filling the same crates you smelt from. That is why the sect guide and this page have to agree: a technical manual does not replace a missing bar of metal.
Soul weapons persist across every life. Regular gear and consumables do not unless you stash them in the legacy vault. The long-term forge goal is a weapon that still exists when the next mortal opens their eyes, then weapon ascension ranks on that line.
Weapon types you will train and (eventually) ascend include Fist, Palm, Sword, Spear, Claw, Staff, Axe, Fan, Zither. Origin wants overlap: a Sword cultivator who forges a trophy zither and never trains Sword is collecting furniture. Bloodline filters are Sword / Fist / Palm / Spear / Beast. Auto Absorb and Strengthen Bloodline add nodes; they do not replace proficiency.
Weapon ascension is a long grind. Enemy pack size does not climb past a point you can brute-force overnight (players have asked about bigger than 1000x packs; the answer is no). Clans later farm packs for you. Until clan content is doing that job, targeted Combat early and map hunts later are the honest path. Do not stall a rebirth forever “for one more ascension rank” if extra bosses have already dried up — convert the life into soul power and keep the weapon.
Divine Forge and later shops
Divine Forge is the high workshop, not the first anvil. It sits with Divine Alchemy, Divine Cooking, Empyrean Menagerie, and other post-mortal tabs that stay dark until the campaign admits you left Body Tempering far behind. v0.5 finishes Ascension 1 and starts cave/dungeon work; Pre-Ascension plus the first Ascension are playable. If Divine Forge is locked, you are early, not broken.
Auction House, Fate Shop, and Fate Cards can feed materials. Optional Patreon Fate bonuses still do not gate core crafts. A recipe that only exists on a Fate screenshot is a bonus path, not a requirement for tribulation number one.
How workshops sit in the loop
- Combat stair buys the first manuals and cheap ingredients (How to Play).
- Map and sect buy everything after that: herbs, ores, beast parts, shared crates.
- Alchemy turns herbs into this-life combat stats. Swallow before a breakthrough. Extra bosses still pay +20% this life after the first — pills that make extra bosses possible are the best crafts in a greedy life (Breakthroughs).
- Forge turns ores and time into soul weapons that survive the death you are planning.
- Legacy vault stores the leftover stacks you refuse to donate to a reset.
- Divine Forge waits until Ascension content says you may.
Heaven Chosen still has to battle for heaven even if the furnace is perfect (Heaven Chosen). Demonic still wants 100% dantian demonic, not a demonic-flavoured pill that almost got there (Demonic cultivator). Origins remain the route; workshops remain the tools.
Quality of life you will miss on mobile
On PC, bulk take-from-sect style actions can use modifier keys (players have used Ctrl+Shift style bulk grabs). On mobile, equivalent controls live around the Buy / speed bar region, and the speed bar can hide behind a modal — close the modal or rotate as needed. Pause is still P on keyboard clients; touch uses the on-screen bar. Controls and hotkeys.
Export a save from the gear on the speed bar before a long refine you do not want to repeat. Workshops are where people lose twenty minutes to a misclick, not where they lose a whole origin — unless they rebirth with the soul weapon still in the recipe preview.
Craft dirty pills when you need a fight tonight. Craft clean soul weapons when you need the next life to start armed. Leave Divine Forge dark until the HUD lights it. That is the whole workshop philosophy: the cauldron is honest, the anvil is permanent, and the clan farm is a promise for a later patch, not a reason to idle the Combat tab until the metal feels bored.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is alchemy one-click?
No. You refine with purity, furnace, and ingredients. Shared piles with the sect make it easy to spend the last herb by accident.
What is a soul weapon?
A forged weapon that persists across rebirths. Regular inventory does not. Bank it before you die — Rebirth & Legacy.
Why is weapon ascension so slow?
On purpose. Pack sizes do not climb forever. Clans later farm packs for you. Until then, use Combat early and the world map later.
Where did my crafted item go?
Often the second page of a scrolling inventory. Check pagination before you assume a bug. Patch context: updates.
How do I get Infernal Treasure Fragments?
From Hell, with Divine Pagoda 10 and Hell Embodiment origin. Not from starter alchemy. Origin overview: origins hub.
When does Divine Forge unlock?
Later, with high workshops after Pre-Ascension content. v0.5 finishes Ascension 1. See Steam Early Access rather than forcing the tab.
